About This Event

The United States’ diplomatic relationship with Belgium dates back to 1832 following the country's declaration of independence from the Netherlands in 1830. Since then, the US and Belgium have maintained a close and strategic partnership as NATO allies who share a similar vision of promoting democratic principles, respect for the rule of law, and human rights. Belgium and the US also hold strong economic ties, with the US being the largest importer of Belgian goods outside the European Union. Ambassador Régibeau joins the Council to discuss his perspective on the relationship between these two countries and what the future may hold.
