About Kiran Mirsa
Kiran Misra is a journalist and policy professional. She reports on the mechanisms behind systems of political power and the stories of people who are most impacted by them, primarily covering criminal justice, immigration, and politics. She also serves as a government partnerships officer for the United Nations World Food Programme, liaising with United Nations field offices and United States development and international aid organizations to support and scale the United Nations’ ability to provide aid to the most globally vulnerable populations. Previously, she was a David L. Boren Fellow in India, studying the connections between rise of hate violence against ethnic minorities in the United States and growing nationalism in India. Her work has been published by Oxfam America, The Guardian, SELF, the Chicago Policy Review, and the Chicago Reader, among other publications. She holds a master's of public policy with honors from the University of Chicago Harris School of Public Policy and a bachelor's of public policy with honors from the University of Chicago.
